Barlcay Butera's Airstream To Host Celebrities at Sundance

I came across this Airstream nugget when I was looking for reviews of Little Miss Sunshine, the road trip movie that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival three years ago this week.

Interior designer to the stars Barclay Butera Inc. towed its swanky Airstream trailer to Park City, Utah for that same 2006 edition of the festival.

Once parked, it was used as the "Green Room Celebrity Lounge" for blue chip companies such as the Los Angeles Times, Hewlett-Packard and L’Oreal.  continue reading... »

Pamela Anderson's Airstream On The Auction Block Again

In a piece back in August we noted that Pamela Anderson's Lovestream Airstream trailer was being auctioned at the “World’s Largest Collector Car Auction and Show".

That auction was held in Auburn, Indiana and ran from August 28 to September 2, 2008.

Well, it seems that the trailer didn't sell last time around as, according to this ad, Kruse International has put the silver missile on the block again this weekend.

But this time, the auctioneer is clearly much more serious about moving the Lovestream.  continue reading... »

Famous Foodies Take to the Road

Celebrity chefs Bob Blumer and Jamie Oliver both have roadtrippin credentials.

Blumer (a.k.a. The Surreal Gourmet) is a a cookbook author, artist and professional bon vivant.

He has been described as "one of today’s most imaginative food personalities" and can be seen on the Food Network.

He also, apparently, enjoys long road trips.

In order to promote his critically acclaimed third cookbook, Off The Eaten Path: Inspired Recipes for Adventurous Cooks, Blumer embarked on an ambitious 30-city, three-month odyssey in the early 2000s in his customized Airstream trailer.  continue reading... »

Pamela Anderson's "Lovestream" Airstream Trailer for Sale

Pamela Anderson's "Lovestream" Airstream trailer is for sale.

According to Kruse International's website, the trailer will be one of about 5,000 collectible vehicles that can be purchased at its 38th edition of the “World’s Largest Collector Car Auction and Show".

The auction will be held live in Auburn, Indiana from August 28 - September 2, 2008. Online bids will also apparently be accepted.

In 2006, British Columbia native Anderson hired celebrity car customizing company Unique Autosports to personalize the trailer.

The Long Island based company installed a white shag rug, a disco ball, mirrors on the ceiling, a vibrating bed and the Playboy logo on the couch.  continue reading... »

Ewan McGregor's "Long Way Round" Road Trip

Ewan McGregor didn't need to go on a 20,000 mile road trip to become famous.

Before setting off from London in April 2004 with his buddy and fellow actor, Charley Boorman, the Scottish actor had already starred in high-powered movies like Trainspotting (1996), Moulin Rouge (2001), Black Hawk Down (2001) and Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002).

But five months before leaving on the road trip, McGregor and Boorman formed a company - Long Way Round Limited (LWR) - with two additional friends to organize the trip logistics, and to produce the T-shirts, book, DVD, CD and six-part television documentary that was to follow.  continue reading... »

Matthew McConaughey's Roadtrippin Trailer

Matthew McConaughey owns three Airstream trailers, including a 28-footer that cost $65,000, and his penchant for road tripping has been well documented.

As he told Details magazine: "My life is on the road, man. I need to keep moving."

When the Texas native came to Vancouver in 2004 to film Two For The Money with Al Pacino, he lived in his Airstream at the Capilano RV Park under the Lions Gate Bridge.

He was dating Penelope Cruz at the time.

McConaughey then spent three months in 2005 driving 8,600 miles over "the highways and byways of America" promoting his subsequent film, Sahara.

Like any good road tripper, he wrote a roadtrip blog - "McConaughey's 'Sahara' Stream Journals.  continue reading... »
