I came across this Airstream nugget when I was looking for reviews of Little Miss Sunshine, the road trip movie that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival three years ago this week.
Interior designer to the stars Barclay Butera Inc. towed its swanky Airstream trailer to Park City, Utah for that same 2006 edition of the festival.
Once parked, it was used as the "Green Room Celebrity Lounge" for blue chip companies such as the Los Angeles Times, Hewlett-Packard and L’Oreal.
Barclay Butera - which is named after its president and CEO – has a clientèle which includes the likes of Sharon Stone, Chris O'Donnell, and Renee Zellweger.
The company purchased the Airstream International CCD Bambi 19’ from Southwest Coaches, the Airstream dealership in Irvine, California which caters to the Hollywood A-list.
The Double B then went about dropping $15,000 to redecorate it, adding luxurious fabrics, custom flooring and window treatments, a multi-disc DVD/CD changer with flat-screen TV and extra high-energy batteries for long term power.
Wally Byam's re-done baby won’t be making it to this year’s festival (which runs from January 15 to 29), however, as Barclay Butera auctioned off the trailer on eBay in 2007 - with a listed starting bid of $25,000. All proceeds went toward the Children's Action Network.
